An article about the Portland Harbor, including this report:
"The DEQ is working to provide better information about future environmental degradation. Scott Manzano of DEQ’s Water Quality Division said the agency plans to use OSU’s new method as part of a pilot program starting in October. There will be retesting of the river near the McCormick and Baxter Superfund site.
By placing a probe in the river and leaving it there for an extended period of time, researchers can gather information over time. It’s seen as a potentially superior testing method because it can track the pollution over a period of time, Manzano said.
“This is such an innovative technology,” Manzano said. “It’s the new kid on the block. We can more accurately assess the river.”"
