Sarah Taylor: Land Acknowledgement (summary): The Portland Metro area rests on traditional Native sites. We thank the original caretakers of this land, acknowledge the systemic racism involved in the cleanup of the Willamette River. Tribes will heal only when we understand the harms done and we promise to continue to learn and to honor, respect and take care of this watershed, all that it offers to all living beings.

In-Person Walking Tour Meeting

Started at the fishing dock at Cathedral Park, next to

the Willamette River.
We reintroduced community members to the changes that are happening on the river, Cathedral Park, and the general area with development, and the Willamette River/Superfund clean-up. This is our first and only in person gathering – any future (virtual or in person) meetings will always be found in an announcement from the CAG or EPA.  All monthly meetings throughout the summer months (June, July, and August) are scheduled to be virtual Zoom meeting.

We proceeded past the Water Pollution Lab riparian area, viewed and discussed new residential construction, got an understanding on Cathedral Park soil-testing and the park’s future and ended at Green Anchor’s inspirational garden and beehives, river restoration and heard more about this manufacturing community-based work environment.
The tour lasted approximately 2 hrs.

Guest Speakers:

Sarah Taylor, Doug Larson, Michael Pouncil of PHCAG, Matt Stein, Tim Wessels and Melanie Berry of Green Anchors
